Yoga for Black Folks Afraid to Try Yoga
A Live Class Series: Mondays, June 1st to 22nd, 2020
Yoga seems to be everywhere these days, yet trying the poses can still be intimidating for many. Perhaps yoga has been intimidating for you. Maybe you feel like you aren't flexible enough. Or fit enough. Or "skinny" enough. Maybe you don't see anyone who looks like you in Yoga spaces. For any number of reasons, maybe you feel like Yoga just isn't for you.
But you're wrong. Yoga is for anybody and EVERY body. There is no "size" or "fitness" requirement. Yoga is for connecting more deeply to your body, mind, heart, and spirit. Yoga is union. And yoga is for YOU.
This live class series is for the nervous newbie who is curious about Yoga but doesn't know how to take that first step to do that first pose. I will teach you the basics of Yoga movement and how to safely do some of the most common Yoga poses.

Each week, we will focus on a specific set of poses, starting with reclined and working our way to standing. Our sessions open with a guided meditation to lead us into our physical practice. After practice we'll have an open group discussion to share experiences, observations, and ask questions.
By the end of this series, you will have the knowledge and experience with Yoga movement needed to begin your own personal practice.
For this series students will need:
- Yoga mat
- Journal for note-taking
- An open heart and mind!
